Victoria Thurlow


Victoria Thurlow is principal of Thurlow/Associates, where she provides strategic fund development, planning, board and staff development, communications and constituency relations for nonprofit clients. Victoria is a highly regarded expert in strategic fund development for nonprofit organizations. For more than 25 years, she has provided counsel and assistance to numerous agencies in planning and implementing annual and capital campaigns, as well as institutional relations and individual giving programs. She has provided strategic counsel and hands-on implementation for capital campaigns in the six- to nine-figure range, and has helped grow clients’ operating budgets by as much as 1,300 percent over the course of the firm’s engagement.

Prior to establishing Thurlow/Associates, Victoria served as director of development and marketing for The Greater Los Angeles Partnership for the Homeless, and as director of fund development and public relations for Assistance League of Los Angeles (formerly Assistance League of Southern California). In addition to a master’s degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin, she holds certifications in executive coaching and in facilitating strategic planning. An award-winning writer, she has taught English composition at both The University of Texas and at California State University.

Victoria has served as a board member and/or volunteer for several nonprofit organizations locally and internationally, and for a U.S.-based private foundation. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a former president of the International Association of Business Communicators/Los Angeles and a former director of the Greater Los Angeles Press Club. She previously chaired the Alliance for Nonprofit Management's Terry McAdam Book Award Committee. She is also a member of Mensa.

Garth Magee

Partner, Administration

Garth Magee manages the administrative, financial and human resources functions of Thurlow/Associates, and provides technical support to clients and staff. With more than 20 years of experience in the technological, engineering and administrative fields, he has been instrumental in developing donor-management databases and designing and implementing other advanced systems for specialized projects.

Before joining the firm, Garth was a staff engineer in the servo-electronics laboratory with Hughes Aircraft Company. He holds two bachelor's of science degrees in engineering and a master's of science degree in engineering, all from The University of Texas at Austin. He holds multiple U.S. patents.

Amber Sheikh Ginsberg, CFRE

Managing Senior Associate

Amber Sheikh Ginsberg is managing senior associate at Thurlow/Associates, where she provides strategic counsel and assistance to clients working in human services, health and other fields. Her areas of special expertise include but are not limited to individual gift programs, major donor relations, capital campaigns and board recruitment.

Before joining Thurlow/Associates, Amber managed individual donor portfolios and coordinated foundation and government relations for Marymount California University. Prior to that, she served on the fund development teams of two prominent homeless service agencies — Children Today and the Downtown Women’s Center — where she coordinated institutional funding, individual giving, fundraising events, and community and corporate outreach. Earlier in her career, Amber worked in Sacramento with the California State Assembly Committee on Banking and Finance, and with former Assemblywoman Sally Lieber. Her international experience includes work with a United Nations women’s microfinance NGO in Delhi, India, and with Women’s Edge Coalition, a non-partisan international human-rights advocacy organization.

In addition to her client responsibilities at Thurlow/Associates, Amber works closely with the firm’s partners in business development and external relations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of California, Davis, with minors in women’s studies and Middle East/South Asia studies. She sits on Mayor Garcetti's Harbor-area Homelessness Organizing Committee and is vice-chair of her Neighborhood Council Homelessness Committee. She is also a board member and partner/coach of Social Venture Partners LA and actively volunteers with Alpha Chi Omega and Assistance League of San Pedro/South Bay.

Kelly Fitzgerald Keebler

Senior Associate

Kelly Lynn Fitzgerald is a senior associate at Thurlow/Associates, where she provides a broad spectrum of counsel and assistance to clients in areas including, but not limited to, institutional fundraising, major donor relations, publications and public grant solicitation.

Before joining Thurlow/Associates, Kelly worked as an independent contractor, providing strategic fund development counsel to nonprofit agencies. Prior to that, she served as a program associate with the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, where she coordinated the annual planning and allocation process for approximately $8 million in emergency housing and assistance from federal and state sources, annually. While at United Way, Kelly also monitored the fiscal and programmatic performance of grantees and ensured compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.

Kelly holds a master of public policy degree from the University of Southern California, as well as a bachelor’s degree in public policy and management from the same institution. She is passionate about improving the quality of life for children and families in her community. Kelly is an active member of Lakewood Little League’s board of directors and is also involved with her son’s school as a Parent Teacher Association member.

Jessica Beckerman


Jessica Beckerman provides support to clients in areas including public and institutional grant solicitation, prospect research, major donor relations, communications and marketing.

Before joining Thurlow/Associates, Jessica worked for Children’s Tumor Foundation, which raises funds for neurofibromatosis research. During her time there, she managed the NF Walk program, significantly increasing participation and visibility, and more than tripling annual funding. Prior to that, she worked in editorial at the publishing house Simon & Schuster in New York, working with numerous renowned authors to craft and polish written materials for impact.

Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in literature from American University. She volunteers with Share a Meal, and is a member of the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles and of Lean In Los Angeles.

Claudio Vazquez

Administrative Associate

Claudio Vazquez provides administrative support to the partners and associates of Thurlow/Associates and technical support for the firm's daily operations. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and is an experienced translator. He is also an accomplished photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries in North and South America.
